Review: Missha – Deep Clear Cleansing Balm

So here’s the thing: I strongly subscribe to the Asian school of double cleansing. I remove my eye makeup with a separate cleanser, followed by an oil cleanser, then a water based facial cleanser.

Today’s review is about a product that I used in lieu of an oil cleanser. I had been using a cleansing oil by Etude House for a while (unfortunately I no longer have a picture of that empty – it came in an orange pump flask – I think it was the Real Art Perfect Cleansing Oil), which was great but I had been wanting to try a cleansing balm for a while.

So I went to Missha one day – not sure why, I just really like their packaging – and I picked up a few items, one of which was their Deep Clear Cleansing Balm.

What it is

It is a solid, transparent-whitish cleansing balm housed in a substantial, heavy plastic pot.

You are meant to rub this on a dry face, then add water to emulsify that oily mess. I recommend that you use the spatula it comes with to avoid contamination of the product.

How does it apply?

Pretty well, actually. You slap it on – it’s not really solid, it melts quickly upon contact with skin – and then you massage your face for a bit. This helps circulation, too, as you move the product around with your fingertips. Really relaxing, and gives skin a nice glow. Highly recommended with whatever oil based product you choose to put on your skin, be it a cleansing oil or a moisturising oil.

How does it smell?

Like nothing, actually. A blessing! Whee!

How did I like it?

It was an alright product and I have nothing negative to say about it whatsoever, except that it did blur my vision a bit if it happened to get into my eyes, but then again, it did not sting or burn my eyes. It removed makeup effectively and it never broke me out. The price was alright, too.

Final Thoughts

It’s a really good product! I just like trying new things all the time, so probably won’t be repurchasing, if only to satisfy my curiosity about so many other products. If you’re in the market for a cleansing balm, check this one out as it’s reasonably priced and does what it says on the box.
