Review: Toni & Guy Heat Protection Mist | Salon Scented, Fluffy Hair

Having short, thin hair can make styling tricky sometimes. You want a little something, but then most products tend to weigh down those strands. I have stopped using gels or waxes precisely because I find them too heavy on my pixie crop, but find that I need to use a heat protection spray at times to get my hair to play ball.

I got this one on a whim as was in need of a heat protectant. Didn’t do my homework – not even a Google search – just popped it into the basket and went off.

・What it is: ・

It’s a heat protection spray, meaning you spray it on your hair before you go at it with heat styling tools.

I love this and want it back in my life!

・Price & Availability: ・

I got mine at Olive Young for somewhere around ₩15,000.

・Size/Quantity: ・

The bottle contains 150 ml of product.

Aqua, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dimethiconol, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric acid, Dimethiconol/Silsesquioxane Copolymer, Disodium EDTA, Glycerin, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Isopropyl alcohol, Laureth-23, Laurtrimonium Chloride, Parfum, PEG/PPG-20/15 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium hydroxide, TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate, VP/VA Copolymer, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Benzyl alcohol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool

I’m going to be honest here, this is probably my least favourite part of the product. The spray nozzle dispenses a little unevenly and not as fine as I’d like it to. Plus, the nozzle/cap top had a tendency to open easily and I often had to screw the top back on vehemently, only for it to loosen up quickly again during use. Also, the design is giving me retro vibes, I’m thinking Essex girls ca 2001. The packaging could certainly do with a little update.

I also saw on the Internet that apparently, people have trouble unlocking the spray bottle mechanism. To that I say, you can do it!! Just shift the little button up on top and the spray nozzle will unlock.

・What the company says:・

Toni&Guy Heat Protect Mist controls & protects hair against heat damage from regular blow drying & heat styling up to 230°C, for a soft & smooth finish.

Press switch at nozzle to unlock spray trigger. Before heat styling, spritz evenly over damp hair & comb through. Ideal for use with other styling products to maximise your style.

Available: 150ml

The liquid itself is a clear, watery, ermmmm, liquid, perhaps a little sticky to the touch.

I absolutely adore the scent! Whenever I used this on my hair, it smelled as though I had just exited a salon. It’s a unisex, clean smell that makes you smell as though you get your hair done on the reg.

Just as recommended by the company website, I would advise to use this on towel dry or damp hair only. If you were to use it on completely dry hair, it might be too sticky.

I love, love, love this spray just because of the fluffy and airy texture it gives me, hair is defined somehow without being weighed down. I have yet to find this kind light hold and texture in another hair product.

I am currently trying out another heat protection spray and am missing this a lot, actually.

・Final Thoughts:・

I can no longer see this at Olive Young or anywhere else for that matter, though it has not been discontinued. I would definitely repurchase if it came back on shelves.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
