Review: From Nature – Age Intense Treatment Essence | Just another FTE?

I’m on a bit of a hypoallergenic/simplified skincare routine kick at the moment and no longer use essences. This is one that I finished recently though and thought to review: From Nature – Age Intense Treatment Essence.

It is a first treatment essence (FTE) as popularised by the ever so famous SKII Pitera Essence, which apparently is still going strong in spite of all the dupes and me-too products. Having never tried SKII’s offering, I can only compare it to Missha’s Time Revolution First Treatment essence, which I really enjoyed using and repurchased several times but never reviewed on this blog.

Let’s take a closer look at this essence then to see if it is comparable.

・What it is: ・

It is a first treatment essence. Something between a toner and a serum.

・TL;DR:・

It was alright.

・Price & Availability: ・

I got mine on sale for ₩9,000 at Lalavla Korea.

・Size/Quantity: ・

The bottle contained 150 ml.

・Ingredients:・

So just looking at the ingredients list, this is a lovely product, actually. No baddies here whatsoever. I will have to note however that the claim that it contains 95.7% filtrate irks me somewhat. We don’t actually know how much water is in the filtrate. It’s kind of like when you brew a cup of tea. Did you leave your tea bag in for 10 seconds or 5 minutes? Same for this one. How much yeast, really, is in that 95.7% yeast filtrate? Could be anything, actually.

・Packaging:・

The frosted glass bottle with a plastic cap and a little stopper on the inside are pretty much standard for FTEs at this point. It looks elegant and the product is easy to recognise as an FTE, even if that means that the packaging is a bit boring because it does not deviate from what seems to be the gold standard in the industry. It also means that this is not a travel friendly product, with what glass being prone to breakage and the 150 ml bottle not being TSA travel friendly.

For comparison’s sake, here are Missha and SKII, ripped straight off the Interwebs.

See how similar they all look?

・What the company says:・

An essence containing 95.7% galactomyces ferment filtrate, 2% Niacinamide, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluronate and herbal extracts, which soothe your skin while strengthening your skin barrier and giving you a healthy glow.

・Consistency/Texture:・

In terms of texture, this was watery and runny, characteristically so of FTEs. In terms of viscosity, this is slightly more watery than what I remember Missha’s FTE to be like. It spreads easily and absorbs relatively quickly. Whereas Missha was almost oily and took some time to absorb, this one felt like a slightly hydrating toner and absorbed quickly without leaving any kind of residue or film or layer on top of my skin.

・Scent:・

This is unscented. Yay!

・Application:・

I used this in the morning and evening, after cleansing / exfoliating / masking and toning, and before going in with any other serums or toners.

This product layered easily and wore well under both makeup and skincare products.

・Efficacy:・

In terms of efficacy, all this did was up hydration levels and for that, I cannot fault it. It helped maintain hydration throughout the day and kept my skin moisturised and comfortable.

At the same time, that is all it did and for the price, I cannot argue with it. It did not brighten or heal acne scars or reduce pigmentation, and I am okay with that.

・Final Thoughts:・

This is a well formulated product and you really cannot beat the price. At the same time, I found this entirely forgettable and have not thought of it or repurchased since. I cannot quite tell you what it is that did not make me reach for this again. The ingredients are nice enough.

I am currently simplifying and scaling back my skincare routine due to having pretty bad skin – more on that in a later post – and may come back to this once my skin settles down, though.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

    1. Thanks! To this day I seek out honest reviews on blogs myself! Everything is sponsored content produced by influencers these days. With blogs you often get a better (because unpaid) perspective.
